Around Shabla there are many picturesque spots that every Bulgarian, as well as foreigner must visit.

Shabla’s lighthouse and the fishing village near it

Shabla’s lighthouse is the oldest and highest in the country, situated at the easternmost point of Bulgaria – Cape Shabla. Painted in red and white, for more than one century and a half it shows the way to sailors in the Black Sea. The people from Shabla proudly say that they possess a small version of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – The Lighthouse of Alexandria. On Cape Shabla is the only officially registered by decree in the country fishing village Karia.

The village of Tyulenovo and the nearby rocky shore

The picturesque coast of Tyulenovo is situated near the town of Shabla and it is 80 km from Varna. The area is famous for its unique beach and caves, fresh air, clear sea water and its matchless nature. For those looking for wild places and wanting to get closer to nature, this is a place for a holiday, fishing and underwater tourism. This is where the first oil field in Bulgaria was discovered. Still, near Tyulenovo there are oil wells.

The fishing village of Krapets and its endless beaches

Krapets is a small fishing village on the Black Sea, only 10 km. north of Shabla and 90 km from Varna. Krapets is a quiet place known for its beaches and birds that nest and winter around it. What is unique about this area is the beach, over 6 km long, between Krapets and Durankulak. Here you will find one of the few pristine dunes on the Black Sea, a quiet and serene sea with soft sandy bottom.

The National archaeological Reserve “Yailata”

2 km south of the village of Kamen Beach and 20 km from Shabla is the reserve Yailata – a seaside terrace with an area of 300 decares, separated from the sea by 50-60 meter cliffs. On its territory there are numerous monuments from different historical periods, from VI millennium BC until the middle of the XI century, and there are also unique species of protected flora and fauna.

The unique Bolata cove near Cape Kaliakra

On the northern side of cape Kaliakra is a little bay with a port called Bolata. Bolata is a firth and narrow gorge that cuts through the bank to the former war zone. It is the only reserve in Bulgaria, including an aquatory, sea area. Kingfishers, bittern, herons, grebes and ducks can be seen here.
